Thierry Gourjon: Fictional Universe
Statement: Fictional Universe is a celebration of space and the human ability to dream. Revisiting prehistoric megaliths and the totems of the American northwest, it is a tribute to their enigmatic beauty and a celebration of space imagery and science. Bridging past and future, sculpture and photography; it is a foray into the realm of imagination, the true “Last Frontier” in the age of digital imaging.
Bio: Fascinated at an early age by the photographic medium and its ability to either document the world or transform it into a new representation, Thierry Gourjon, a French born freelance photographer with family ties to both Iceland and Norway, first studied medicine, before going back to his first love, photography. Over the past few years, he has explored combining photography with the limitless possibilities of the digital medium, resulting in the Fictional Universe series. He is also an educator and has been teaching both at Pratt and LaGuardia CUNY for several years.
